Covid-19 Grants & Resources For Israeli Amutot

To simplify finding COVID-19-related financial or in-kind help, Landman Strategic Fundraising is keeping an eye on foundation, governmental and corporate opportunities for Israeli non-profits over the next few months and will update this list with new announcements.

Israel Science Foundation in conjunction with Israeli Council for Higher Education:

KillCorona: A 4 Million USD Grant Program to Address the Coronavirus Pandemic and Disease

Help offered: Funding for 30 research projects to stop the spread of Covid-19, each receiving between NIS 180,000 (approximately $50,000) and NIS 720,000 (approximately $200,000).

Israel Science Foundation

Due to the urgency of the subject, the registration and submission deadlines are shorter than is customary in the ISF. The ISF website will open for registration and submission by March 31, 2020. A separate announcement will be posted on the ISF website and will be sent to the research authorities.

Registration deadline: Tuesday, April 7th, 2020, at 13:00 (Jerusalem time).

Final submission deadline: Tuesday, April 21st, 2020, at 13:00 (Jerusalem time).

Read the program’s submission guidelines before you start and leave time for setting up a new user account. In order to join the ISF’s database, complete the personal information form that can be found at the ISF online login page when clicking the “new user” button.

Examples of research projects:

  • Development of new methods for detecting the spread of the virus across a population
  • Understanding and inhibiting SARS-Cov-2 infection
  • Identification of the immunological characteristics related to Covid-19
  • Covid-19 serological research
  • Development of an active or passive vaccine against Covid-19
  • Development of robust Covid-19 models (lab animals or tissue culture)
  • Identification of existing drugs that may restrain Covid-19
  • Development of new therapies against Covid-19
  • Research on genetic, epigenetic and environmental factors that influence infection and the course of the disease, and predicting future outbreaks
  • Covid-19 epidemiological research with implications for public health policy

Help offered: interim crisis assistance and logistics for amutot working in social welfare

Ordinarily this organization focuses on establishing  sophisticated logistical systems, (the “Social Delivery” project ) to get surplus goods to nonprofit organizations and people in need.

As of today they are working in emergency mode providing solutions to transfer equipment and goods from businesses and companies to nonprofits working in the field. Sign up at landing page above, either as a business to donate or nonprofit organization to receive.

In this one they’re looking for NEW programs operated by organizations that have at least 3 years’  experience in their field. The support is for programs serving people 18+, disadvantaged youth, youth dealing with addiction, financial guidance and rehabilitation for poor families.

Bituach Leumi

Help offered: Funds for Amutot helping vulnerable populations

Bituach Leumi wants to strengthen Israeli society and give it the power to meet present challenges. They are inviting organizations and nonprofits who serve vulnerable populations right now during the coronavirus crisis to apply through the online form linked above. Up to 10 million NIS will be divided between organizations and grants will be up to 100,000 NIS. If chosen, assistance will be provided in 3 installments. Assistance provided is for the costs of running the program, even if you need to hire new people, not for heavy equipment you’re buying now. You need your Nikhul Takin and 46A, plus two years proven experience working in the field with the target population.

Mobileye – Mobileye Lema’an Hakehilla

Mobileye wants to help organizations and nonprofits in need of a financial boost right now, so the amuta can continue their activities and support the Israeli economy, strengthening and maintaining the Israeli public.

Mobileye has put up NIS 10 million to be split between non-profit social organizations selected by Mobileye themselves for activities focused on supporting the Israeli economy and the public.

If you pass the initial stage (scroll down on Mobileye URL for short application form) you will need to provide up-to-date documents for the next stage:

  1. Cover letter signed by the CEO
  2. Copy of Teudat Rishum
  3. Updated Ishur that you take taxes – פטור מניכוי מס במקור
  4. Updated Income Tax authorization – מס הכנסה על ניהול ספרים
  5. Your Nihul Takin
  6. Updated 46A
  7. A copy of your organization’s Takanon (Policies)
  8. A list of your executive board members (or equivalent) along with their date of election, signed by the chairperson.

If a donation is approved your organization you will need

  1. Most recent financial report including the accountant’s introduction.
  2. Budget forecast of that year versus actual expenditure
  3. Approved budget forecast for current year.
  4. Attoney’s letter confirming those who are authorized to act on behalf of the Amuta, sign on behalf of the Amuta, and what they can sign.

CEJP The Center for Entrepreneurial Jewish Philanthropy

Help offered: Advice and funds if you fit criteria

Submission deadline: Monday, 5PM EST. 30 March, 2020

CEJP created a unique and serious presentation on Issues and Strategies for amutot to consider during the crises. They hosted three video briefings (the content is the same for each) to present important insights and answer questions. These insights will help an amuta tremendously even if they don’t qualify for CEJP emergency funding. What you learn will help you manage your crisis budget and your relations with donors and foundations.
